Day 1: Marrakech to Imlil Valley
Depart from Marrakech and journey to the Imlil Valley in the High Atlas Mountains. Upon arrival, settle into your accommodation and take a leisurely stroll through the village, soaking in the serene mountain atmosphere.
Day 2: Trekking Around Imlil
Embark on a guided trek through the Imlil region, exploring traditional Berber villages and the picturesque Mizane Valley. Popular routes include paths to the village of Aroumd and the pilgrimage site of Sidi Chamarouch. These trails offer stunning views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
Day 3: Imlil to Ait Benhaddou via Tizi n’Tichka and Telouet
Leave Imlil and travel over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, which offers panoramic views of the High Atlas Mountains. En route, visit the historic Telouet Kasbah before continuing to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, renowned for its ancient fortified architecture.
Day 4: Ait Benhaddou to Todgha Gorges
Explore the winding alleys of Ait Benhaddou in the morning. Afterward, journey to the Todgha Gorges, famous for their towering canyon walls and dramatic landscapes. Upon arrival, take a leisurely walk along the riverbed to fully appreciate the grandeur of the gorges.
Day 5: Todgha Gorges to Merzouga
Begin the day with a hike in the Todgha Gorges, immersing yourself in the natural beauty of the area. Later, travel to Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. In the evening, embark on a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes to witness a breathtaking sunset, followed by an overnight stay in a traditional desert camp.
Day 6: Merzouga and Visit to Khamlia Village
Spend the day exploring the Merzouga region. Visit Khamlia Village, known for its Gnawa music and culture. The inhabitants of Khamlia are descendants of former slaves and have preserved their unique musical traditions. Experience a live Gnawa music performance and learn about the village’s rich history.
Day 7: Merzouga to Agdz Oasis
Depart Merzouga and travel through the Draa Valley, characterized by its lush palm groves and ancient kasbahs. Arrive in Agdz, a tranquil oasis town, where you can relax and explore the local scenery.
Day 8: Agdz to Marrakech via Ouarzazate and Tizi n’Tichka
Leave Agdz and head towards Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Gateway to the Sahara.” Consider visiting the Taourirt Kasbah or the Atlas Film Studios. Continue your journey over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, eventually arriving back in Marrakech.
Day 9: Marrakech Day Tour
Explore the vibrant city of Marrakech with a guided tour. Visit historical sites such as the Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace, and the Saadian Tombs. Wander through the bustling souks and experience the lively atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fnaa square.
Day 10: Departure
Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy some final moments in Marrakech before departing to the airport for your journey
