Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil – Tamsoult Refuge (2,250m) via Tasghimout Peak (2,600m)
Your adventure begins with a morning transfer from Marrakech to Imlil (1,740m), the main gateway to the High Atlas Mountains. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your local team of guide, cook, and muleteers. The trek starts with a scenic ascent towards the Tizi n’Mzik pass (2,480m), offering sweeping views of the valley. You’ll stop for a lunch break near the pass, then continue towards the beautiful Tasghimout Peak (2,600m), your first summit of the trip. After taking in the panorama, descend to the Tamsoult Refuge (2,250m), nestled in the Azzaden Valley, for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Tamsoult – Aguelzim Pass (3,560m) – Toubkal Refuge (3,207m)
After breakfast, the trail climbs steeply above the valley, eventually reaching the dramatic Aguelzim Pass (3,560m). This is a challenging but rewarding section, with incredible views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. You’ll enjoy lunch at the top of the pass before descending to the Toubkal Refuge (also known as Neltner Refuge, 3,207m), which sits at the foot of Mount Toubkal. Overnight at the refuge, resting and preparing for the summit day ahead.
Day 3: Summit Mount Toubkal (4,167m) – Tibherine (3,875m) – Imouzzer (3,850m)
Today is summit day. You’ll set off early to ascend Mount Toubkal (4,167m), the highest peak in North Africa. The climb is steep but non-technical, and the view from the top is breathtaking, spanning the entire Atlas range and, on clear days, as far as the Sahara Desert. After celebrating the summit, you’ll continue along a high ridge to reach Tibherine Peak (3,875m) and Imouzzer Peak (3,850m) before returning to the refuge for a well-earned lunch and overnight stay.
Day 4: Climb Timzguida (4,089m) and Ras Ouanoukrim (4,083m)
Another early start takes you southward to tackle two more majestic peaks: Timzguida (4,089m) and Ras Ouanoukrim (4,083m), often referred to as “Toubkal’s sisters.” These climbs are more technical, involving some scrambling, but they offer stunning, less-frequented views over the High Atlas. After reaching both summits, you’ll descend back to Toubkal Refuge for lunch and overnight.
Day 5: Refuge – Imlil – Marrakech
The final day is a relaxed descent. You’ll walk down through the scenic Mizane Valley, passing the spiritual site of Sidi Chamharouch (2,310m), a popular pilgrimage spot. Continue the descent to Imlil, where your driver will be waiting to take you back to Marrakech. End of the trip, filled with rich memories and impressive high-altitude achievements.
