Day 1: Marrakech to M’hamid
Depart early from Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass with stunning views. Continue through Ouarzazate with an optional visit to the Taourirt Kasbah. After lunch en route, drive along the Draa Valley, famous for its palm groves and old kasbahs. Arrive in M’hamid at the edge of the desert for dinner and overnight in a guesthouse.
Day 2: M’hamid to Erg Lihoudi
After breakfast, meet your local trekking team and camels. Begin your desert trek, walking through the vast, open Hamada and small dunes. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the shade of tamarisk trees before reaching Erg Lihoudi, where the dunes rise beautifully at sunset. Dinner and overnight in a nomadic-style camp under the stars.
Day 3: Erg Lihoudi to Erg Bougarn
Enjoy breakfast at camp, then continue trekking deeper into the desert. Walk across sandy plains and scattered dunes toward Erg Bougarn. The landscape grows wilder and more remote. Picnic lunch along the way. Arrive at Erg Bougarn to set up camp and admire its peaceful, unspoiled dunes. Dinner and overnight in tents.
Day 4: Erg Bougarn to Erg Zhar
Wake up for sunrise before breakfast. Begin your trek toward Erg Zhar, famous for its tall, striking dunes and breathtaking desert views. Stop for lunch in the shade of acacia trees. Continue walking through shifting sands and dry riverbeds before reaching camp near Erg Zhar. Enjoy dinner and storytelling under the starry desert sky.
Day 5: Erg Zhar to Erg Chigaga
After an early breakfast, set off for the iconic Erg Chigaga dunes. Trek through spectacular dunes and vast plateaus, stopping for a picnic lunch. By afternoon, reach the immense, golden dunes of Erg Chigaga. Enjoy sunset views from the highest dunes, then relax at your desert camp with dinner and live music around the fire. Overnight in camp tents.
Day 6: Erg Chigaga to Marrakech
After breakfast, travel by 4×4 through the wild landscape of Lake Iriki toward Foum Zguid. Break for tea and continue toward Taznakht for lunch, known for its Berber carpets. Finally, cross back through the High Atlas to arrive in Marrakech in the evening.
