7-Day Berber Villages Trek and Valleys Experience

Day 1: Marrakech to Imi Oughlad to Tizzian

• Your adventure begins with an early pick-up in Marrakech for a scenic drive to Imi Oughlad (1,450 m), where you’ll meet your guide and muleteers. From there, set off on foot, climbing gently toward Tizi n’Tacht pass (2,000 m) and pausing to enjoy a picnic lunch with panoramic views over the Azzaden Valley. After lunch, continue through beautiful terraced farmland and traditional Berber hamlets to reach the welcoming village of Tizzian, where you’ll spend the night in a local guesthouse.

Day 2: Tizzian to Tizgui N’Tkent

• After a hearty breakfast, begin your trek with an uphill walk toward the Tizi n’Takhrkhort pass, offering splendid views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Descend through juniper forests and green fields toward the village of Islan, where you’ll stop for lunch beside a shady riverbank. In the afternoon, continue along scenic trails lined with walnut trees before arriving at Tizgui N’Tkent, a traditional village where you’ll stay overnight in a Berber home.

Day 3: Tizgui N’Tkent to Tizzi Oussem Village

• Enjoy breakfast before setting off toward Tizi n’Tagdalt pass, with impressive mountain panoramas along the way. Descend gradually through a landscape of rugged hillsides and remote farms toward Agouns N’Soul, stopping for lunch on the trail. Afterward, continue along winding paths to reach Tizzi Oussem, a picturesque village in the Azzaden Valley known for its friendly inhabitants and stunning setting, where you’ll spend the night in a local guesthouse.

Day 4: Tizzi Oussem to Imlil

• After breakfast, depart Tizzi Oussem and climb toward the scenic Tizi M’Zik pass (2,400 m), which rewards you with sweeping views of the Imlil and Azzaden Valleys. Enjoy lunch en route, then descend into the bustling trekking center of Imlil, a gateway to Mount Toubkal. Settle in for the night at a guesthouse in Imlil, where you can relax and soak in the mountain atmosphere.

Day 5: Imlil to Amsakrou

• Begin the day with breakfast in Imlil before setting out toward Tizi n’Tamatert pass (2,279 m), where you’ll have magnificent views over both the Imenane and Ait Mizane Valleys. Pause for lunch near the pass or on the descent. Continue downhill through terraced fields and small Berber hamlets until you arrive at the peaceful village of Amsakrou, where you’ll spend the night in a local guesthouse.

Day 6: Amsakrou to Oussertk

• After breakfast, leave Amsakrou and trek steadily uphill toward the high pastures of Oukaimeden, Morocco’s highest ski station, with beautiful views and a memorable picnic lunch on the plateau. After lunch, continue on a gentle descent through mountain paths to reach Oussertk, a remote and traditional village where you’ll be welcomed for an overnight stay in a Berber house.

Day 7: Oussertk to Marrakech

• Following breakfast, begin the final leg of your trek with a descent through scenic valleys and traditional villages such as Ouvert and Imsker. Enjoy the changing landscapes before reaching Imi Oughlad, where you’ll stop for a final lunch. Here, you’ll meet your driver for the comfortable transfer back to Marrakech, arriving in the late afternoon with wonderful memories of your High Atlas adventure
